IMPERFECT SOCIAL MEDIA APP
About
This project explores an imperfect social media app built in response to the growing disconnect between what we see online and what is real. Current platforms rely heavily on algorithms, filters, and AI-generated content that shape perception, amplify unrealistic standards, and increasingly blur the line between authenticity and fabrication.
Goal
As algorithms become more precise and AI visuals more convincing, users are fed exactly what they want to see—often without realizing how curated or artificial it is. Filters alter colors, environments, and bodies, turning everyday moments and even real locations into something idealized and misleading.
The goal of this project is to remove these layers of manipulation and create a space where content reflects reality as it is captured, not as it is optimized.
Outcome
The result is a social media app that only allows direct camera uploads. No external images, no filters, no AI tools, and no post-editing. Every photo is shared exactly as it was taken.
By limiting control and embracing imperfection, the platform shifts focus away from performance and toward presence—encouraging more honest documentation, healthier expectations, and a clearer distinction between what is real and what is constructed.
